Abstract: Le lumache che vivono nel prato chiamato Paese del Dente di Leone, sotto la frondosa pianta del calicanto, sono abituate a condurre una vita lenta e silenziosa, a nascondersi dallo sguardo avido degli altri animali, e a chiamarsi tra loro semplicemente lumaca. Una di loro, però, trova ingiusto non avere un nome, e soprattutto è curiosa di scoprire le ragioni della lentezza. Per questo, nonostante la disapprovazione delle compagne, intraprende un viaggio che la porterà a conoscere un gufo malinconico e una saggia tartaruga, a comprendere il valore della memoria e la vera natura del coraggio, e a guidare le compagne in un'avventura ardita verso la libertà.
